Your GET UP starts here.

Counseling and addiction treatment in Hillsboro, for the morning you decide you're done doing this on your own.

Or call (937) 509-2459

You already knew.

Probably for a while now. Since the last bad night, or the last conversation you can't take back.

Knowing isn't the hard part. The hard part is that in a county this size, getting help feels like an announcement.

"Everyone will know."

Two things stop people here. What it costs, and who finds out.

So let's do both right now, before you call anybody.

The first question

What it costs. Out loud.

You shouldn't have to call a stranger to find out what an hour costs. Tap whichever one is you.

Mostinsurances accepted

One phone call confirms yours before you book a thing.

Have your card handy. It takes about a minute.

Who you'd be sitting with

Both licenses. One room.

Angela Nlemchi is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor.

In plain terms: licensed for the mental health side, and independently licensed for the addiction side. Both, in the same room, in the same hour.

Most people carrying both get sent back and forth between two providers who never talk to each other. You'd tell the whole story twice. Here you tell it once.

The approach is person centered, using cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. That last one is built for people who aren't sure they want to change yet.

What she works with

Eight things, in her words.

  • Individual counseling

Tailored to meet your unique needs and goals.

  • Depression

Cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing, to get at the root cause rather than the surface of it.

  • Trauma therapy

Helping people heal from the lasting effects of trauma. Compassionate, evidence based, and built around you.

  • Addiction

A full addiction treatment program for people working their way into recovery.

  • Faith based counseling

Rooted in Christian principles, for mental, emotional and spiritual needs. Available if you want it.

  • Angry outbursts

Evidence based methods for managing and expressing anger in healthier ways.

  • Parenting difficulties

Parenting classes and support for building stronger relationships with your kids.

  • Life skills

Support and collaboration to bring the stress down and get your peace back.

She also works with relationship problems, stress and anxiety disorders.

Adults, children and adolescents. If you're calling about your kid, that's a normal call to make.

How it goes

Three steps. That's it.

  1. Say you're thinking about it.

A call or the form below. You don't have to explain everything to a stranger on day one. Someone gets back to you within 24 hours.

  2. Come in for the assessment.

About an hour. Mostly her asking and you answering, so she knows what she's working with. Bring your ID, and your insurance card if you're using one.

  3. Pick a time and keep it.

That's the part that actually changes things. Not the first visit. The tenth one.

Straight answers

The questions people actually have.

Will anyone find out I'm coming here?

That worry is the single most common reason people in small counties put this off, so you're not being paranoid. It's a fair question and it deserves a straight answer, not a brochure line. Ask it on the first call and you'll get one.

What if I'm not sure I want to quit?

Then you're a normal person walking in the door. Motivational interviewing, which Angela uses, was built for exactly this. Being unsure isn't a disqualifier. It's usually the starting point.

Do you take my insurance?

Most insurances are accepted. Rather than guess, call with your card in your hand and get a yes or no in about a minute. That's a shorter call than you're imagining.

What if it's drinking and depression, both?

Then you're in the right office. Angela is licensed for the mental health side and independently licensed for the addiction side. You won't be handed off between two providers who never speak to each other.

Is my kid too young for this?

She works with children and adolescents as well as adults, and parenting support is its own specialty. If you're not sure whether it's a therapy problem or a parenting problem, that's a fine thing to ask about.

What actually happens in the first session?

It's the assessment, about an hour, and it's mostly questions. History, what's going on now, what you want to be different. You are not expected to arrive with it all figured out.

You don't have to fix your life today.

You have to get up. Then you have to make one call. That's the whole list.

Rather just call?

That's often faster, and you can ask anything you want before booking.
